Kuala Lumpur: On Wednesday, 9 September 2026 at 10:00 AM, at the JW Marriott Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on the occasion of the 17th ASEAN Health Ministers Meeting (17th AHMM), H.E. Prof. Chheang Ra, Minister of Health of the Kingdom of Cambodia, led the Cambodian delegation in a bilateral meeting with H.E. Baykham Khatthiya, Minister of Health of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, to strengthen health cooperation between the two countries.
The objective of this meeting was to review and advance discussions on the drafting process in preparation for the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on health cooperation between the two nations. Both sides highly commended the efforts of the technical teams who discussed and finalized the draft MoU in July 2026.
This MoU will serve as an important framework for bilateral cooperation across several priority areas, including: prevention and control of communicable and non‑communicable diseases, strengthening cross‑border laboratory capacity, maternal and child health, food safety, pharmaceutical quality assurance, and human resource development.
In addition, both parties discussed regional health security cooperation, including aligning regulations for pharmaceutical import‑export, drug registration processes, and joint technical training to enhance the resilience of both countries’ health systems.
