Geneva: On Monday, 18 May 2026, His Excellency Dr. Lo Veasnakiry, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Health, and His Excellency Prof. Sok Chour, Advisor to the Ministry of Health and Deputy Director‑General for Health, were invited as speakers at a side event held under the theme “Partnership in Action: Sustaining the Momentum for Country‑led and Self‑reliant Health Financing amid Fiscal Constraints.” The event was co‑organized by the Government of Japan, the Government of Nigeria, and the United Nations Foundation, with the objective of discussing sustainable, country‑led health‑financing strategies in the face of fiscal challenges and global economic pressures.
During the event, H.E. Secretary of State highlighted Cambodia’s experience in strengthening equitable health‑financing systems through key policies such as the Health Equity Fund, the expansion of Social Health Protection, and the increase of national budget allocations for the health sector, despite the impacts of the COVID‑19 crisis and broader economic uncertainties.
This side event co-organized by Japan, Nigeria, and the UN Foundation, and was attended by representatives from Member States and numerous international partner organizations.
